San Francisco LoveFest 2009 will not be happening. It was announced today that the event formerly known as Love Parade will again be changing it's name.
If you're into dance music and DJ culture and have been living in SF for a while, you probably remember a little parade that took place back in the fall of 2004. The event was modeled after an annual event that had been taking place in Berlin for 15 years. The first Love Parade event in San Francisco drew around 35,000 people and took place on 3rd street near the ballpark. The after party in the parking lot that day confirmed that San Francisco was a great new home for the now defunct German version.
2005 saw the Love Parade move locations and grow substantially in size. That year the parade snaked down Market Street, each float blasting the club anthems of the day out into the financial district and tenderloin. The party spilled into the Civic Center area 50,000 strong and the festival gained more traction as THE dance music event of the year in the US.
In 2006, more things changed. The Love Parade in Berlin was back on and in order to keep the name from becoming diluted, they asked the SF version to change their name. San Francisco LoveFest was born and the new name seemed to draw an even bigger following. 70,000 fans of electronic music and culture took to the streets and invaded the civic center area and city hall.
The 2007 and 2008 LoveFest events were both amazing successes with last year's parade and party bringing in over 125,000 people. The event has matured into a week-long celebration. It's truly an unbelievable achievement and something that this city should be very proud of.
In 2009, San Francisco Love Parade aka San Francisco LoveFest will once again go through a big change. Through forces out of the organizers' control, the name of the event will need to change once again. Luckily for LoveFest, the event is not about the name. Love(insert new synonym for celebration here) is about community and dancing. Having fun and respecting the way others have fun. Partying in a city that celebrates diversity and self expression. It's about San Francisco and our strong commitment to showing the world that our city is really second to none.

Method Man Says Weed Habit Made Him Forget To Pay Taxes
According to Method Man, he fell behind on his taxes because of his well documented weed habit.
As previously reported, the rapper's 2008 Lincoln Navigator was repossessed by the tax man because of his failure to pay Uncle Sam for a few years.
Despite widespread reports that he neglected the bill because he is broke, the rapper insists his marijuana habit is to blame.
According to Meth, the Department of Taxation showed up to his home with "four NYPD cops and the repo team," he reportedly told Bossip. "I knew why they were there. It wasn't like, 'Oh my God! Noo!! Don't take it!' like it is on that TV show [Operation Repo]. I was half-dressed, and it was so early that I just said, 'Okay, you're taking the truck... Aight.'"
Meth further explained the tax mishap as a side effect of his frequent marijuana use.
"Myself, I'm a pothead," he said. "It's no secret. Everyone knows that. I go on the road and forget everything else. Sure, [the tax department] sent letters to my house saying, 'We need this money.' They started sending them in 2002. Here it is, 2009, and I never paid this sh*t because I don't think like that... I could have easily just written them a check for whatever amount, but no, I waited until they knocked on this door and were like, 'We got your truck and we outta here. Now I'm thinking we've gotta get our truck back, which means I have to get all my paperwork together. That means days of going through mail, 'cause I got mail like woah."
